Reporting To: People Business Partner
The People Advisor delivers high-quality, generalist HR support to managers and employees across the business. Reporting to the People Business Partner, the role provides practical, timely advice on employee relations matters, people policies and processes, and supports managers through key stages of the employee lifecycle.
The role manages employee relations cases and supports managers with absence management and introduction period reviews. Acting as a first-line People contact for managers and employees, the People Advisor ensures consistent, fair and well-governed people support across the organisation.

Employee Relations & Case Management
Manage employee relations cases up to moderate complexity, including disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance matters, in line with company policy and UK and ROI employment legislation.
Provide clear, pragmatic advice to managers on handling people issues fairly, consistently and proportionately.
Support investigations, hearings and meetings, including preparation of documentation and note-taking where required.
Identify and escalate complex, high-risk or sensitive matters to the People Business Partner as appropriate.
Induction, Introduction & Early Employment Support
Support managers with induction and introduction review processes from a people process and manager guidance perspective, ensuring expectations, documentation and outcomes are handled consistently and in line with employment legislation.
Advise managers on early performance, conduct or capability issues during introduction periods, ensuring a fair and legally compliant approach.
Support introduction review meetings and outcomes, including confirmations, extensions or terminations, escalating risk where appropriate.
Work closely with the Learning & Engagement team to ensure induction and learning activity is embedded effectively during early employment.
Absence Management & Employee Lifecycle Support
Support managers with short- and long-term absence management processes, providing guidance on policy, documentation and next steps.
Act as a point of contact for employees and managers during key stages of the employee lifecycle, particularly during early employment and periods of change.
Policy Advice & First-Line HR Guidance
Act as a first point of contact for managers and employees on People policy, process and employee relations queries.
Interpret and apply People policies consistently, escalating queries where clarification, risk assessment or policy interpretation is required.
Support the effective implementation of People policies and procedures across JoJo.
Stakeholder Support & Collaboration
Act as a key People contact for managers and employees, ensuring timely and consistent support.
Work closely with the People Business Partner to align case management and advice with People priorities and risk appetite.
Collaborate with the People Assistant, Recruitment Assistant and Learning & Engagement team to ensure joined-up People support across the employee lifecycle.
Compliance & Good Practice
Ensure People activity and ER casework is compliant with UK and ROI employment legislation, internal policies and best practice.
Maintain accurate records and documentation relating to ER cases, introduction period and absence management.
Support audits, reporting and data requests where required.
Support managers to meet legal and policy requirements during early employment, including induction and introduction period, in line with evolving employment legislation.
Handle employee data and sensitive information in line with data protection legislation (including GDPR) and internal data security requirements.
Skills that make you shine:
Experience in a generalist HR or People Advisor role.
Practical experience managing ER cases up to moderate complexity.
Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
Confident advising and influencing managers on people matters.
Awareness of GDPR and confidentiality requirements when handling employee information
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
Experience supporting retail, multi-site or remote teams.
CIPD Level 5 (or working towards) or equivalent experience.
Additional Requirements
Willingness to travel occasionally to stores or other locations as required.
