At JoJo we’re on the lookout for a Design Assistant

You will assist the designers and other members of the team. Providing administration and CAD support to ensure the smooth running of design creation, sampling, and production. Providing key administration assistance in design updates, approvals, and critical path maintenance.

A peek into your daily adventures

• Assisting the designers in completion and maintenance of in-house design records and filing, both electronic and manual.
• Assisting with researching and presenting appropriate trend and inspiration, comparative analysis & competitor observation. Helping to collate information ready for presentation to wider teams.
• Drawing up accurate CAD illustrations for specifications.
• Assisting the designers with range development and print design where necessary.
• Issuing specifications & design critical path to suppliers & following up accordingly.
• Assisting with development of accessories / labels / packaging as necessary.
• Ensuring lab dips / strike offs / samples submissions are received as and when needed.
• Ensuring necessary comments from the designers are fed back to the supplier and further submissions requested as appropriate.
• Using your awareness of the design critical path to support the designers with development and production critical paths to ensure business deadlines are met.
• Assisting the team in management of samples, supporting the wider Buying / Tech teams if necessary.
• Assisting in the preparation for and on the photo shoot and/or trade fairs as required.
• General administrative and office duties supporting the wider JoJo team if and when necessary.
• Actively engaging in ethical or environmental improvements to our processes and sourcing.
• Being aware of the implications of copyright infringement and protection

Skills that make you shine:

• Ability to confidently use in practice Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator for CAD, Print and Graphics.
• Excellent verbal and written English and strong communication skills.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Packages, including Excel and Publisher
• Being highly organised, with excellent attention to detail.
• A developing understanding of garment and fabric construction across a variety of materials such as jersey, woven & knits with an aptitude to learn more.
• A developing understanding of multi-layer print design with an aptitude to learn more.
• Ability to understand the JoJo brand and customer.
• Ability to multi-task in a busy atmosphere. To work collaboratively.
• Ability to get things done and improvise as required with a ‘can do’ attitude.
• Being a brand ambassador, ensuring that our values and ethos are never compromised. Being honest and respectful and talking openly and actively listening.
• Taking ownership of all aspects of the role.
