At JoJo we’re on the lookout for an Essentials Buyer
You will working under the guidance of the Head of Buying, this role is responsible for managing the buying and delivery of the own label Essentials range. This department covers lots of exciting areas such as outerwear, footwear, swimwear, accessories and pyjamas. You will work with the in-house Design and Garment Tech teams to ensure successful range development. You will manage existing suppliers and actively source new suppliers. You will drive the processes we use to achieve the critical path, ensuring key dates are met by effectively managing the team AB/BAAs and you will build upon strong relationships with merchandising and wider teams to ensure business goals are met. As well as being a positive role model to the wider team.
A peek into your daily adventures
Range Development, Planning, Trading & Market Performance
- Oversee the essentials department, keeping the team informed on priorities, ensuring accurate department spreadsheets, and fostering collaboration with merchandising to optimize sales and product ranges.
- Lead design briefings, analyze sales trends and competitors, identify opportunities for improvement, and negotiate pricing while ensuring sustainable and ethical sourcing practices.
- Present confidently in review meetings, support range planning, manage budgets effectively, and contribute to senior management discussions using data-driven insights.
- Ensure timely sampling, submissions, and deliveries, maintain licensing for sustainable fabrics, manage Better Cotton data, and work to improve environmental sustainability in processes and products.
- Work with marketing, VM, and other teams to present the range effectively, visit stores for improvement opportunities, and assess supply base risks to align with business and B-Corp expectations.
Communications, Web & Social Media
- Oversee the effective management of photo and wholesale samples, plan photography requirements for web and catalogues, and ensure smooth execution of photoshoots.
- Manage web and catalogue proofing processes, maintain accurate product information, select images, and proactively suggest web content to enhance product presentation.
- Build strong relationships with PR, content, and catalogue teams, identify opportunities for social media and editorial content, and support training initiatives to optimize product sales and engagement.
Team Success
- Manage the department team effectively, ensuring they are trained, motivated, and developing appropriately while proactively supporting senior management and business needs.
- Oversee department systems, troubleshoot issues, and continuously improve business practices by identifying and implementing process enhancements.
- Use initiative to optimise team productivity, address challenges, and lead special projects as needed to support business growth.
