Photographer and Retoucher (Mat cover role)
Your role in the JoJo story…
We are a fun and exciting childrenswear brand based in South London and we are currently on the lookout for a Photographer and Retoucher to join our team on a fixed term basis maternity cover. Reporting to the Studio Lead the role involves being responsible for the creation of all our in-house photographic assets for both print and digital mediums. You would have the opportunity to shoot a wide variety of imagery from cutouts to models, still life to lifestyle and even the occasional video content. Additionally, you would also support our post-production team with retouching during off peak periods.
Please note that due to the nature of the work this is an in-office role.
A peek into your daily adventures
Photography – 80% of the role
- Making sure samples are prepared correctly before shooting (including steaming and styling)
- Styling samples with a creative flair whilst also maintaining consistency and keeping company guidelines in mind
- Shooting cutouts for web and packaging
- Shooting model imagery on set for our maternity range
- Colour checking imagery against samples
- Tracking the status of products and samples handed over to the studio
- Working closely with the Marketing and PR teams to shoot creative flat lays and still life for both print and digital mediums
- Occasional lifestyle shoots, as requested
- Some videography for social and 360 degrees
- Maintaining a clean and tidy studio space
- Keeping to the correct file naming conventions and image archive structure as set out by the business
- Processing out files at the end of each day and ensuring they are passed to the Studio Lead and/or Junior Retoucher for post-production
- Liaising with the Buying team for any issues surrounding product reshoots, design changes, missing samples etc
- Actively taking charge of communication surrounding photography and serving as secondary point of contact for the studio alongside the Studio Lead
Retouching – 20% of the role
- Supporting the Studio Lead and Junior Retoucher with retouching of imagery as needed during quieter periods
- Assisting the Studio Lead with tracking of files, sending of files to third parties, image uploading, archiving of files etc
- QCing of imagery coming back from external retouchers and ensuring any markups from the Buying team are actioned
And you will be accountable for:
- Managing your time and prioritising your workload to meet tight deadlines, as well as achieving daily targets agreed with the Studio Lead
- Maintaining excellent relationships with other teams
- Positively responding to work requests from the Studio Lead, the Creative Services Manager and the Head of Brand and working to ensure that the team successfully achieves its goals within the business
- Keeping a clean and efficient studio space and ensuring that any issues surrounding the space or equipment are flagged to the Studio Lead in a timely manner
- Ensuring that any imagery you sign off on is consistent with the JoJo brand guidelines

Technical skills we require for the role:
- Expert Canon user
- Expert knowledge of lighting systems and set-ups
- Expert knowledge of Capture One Pro, Adobe Photoshop and Bridge
- Experience using Mac OS and Wacom tablets
- Videography skills
- Basic knowledge of Excel
